Human SETTLEMENTS
The Interior Plains were first inhabited by aboriginal people, some of with still live there (The Interior Plains p.24). The Sarcee, Blackfoot, Plains Cree, Assiniboine, Saulteaux, and Gros Ventre live in the southern part of the plains (The Interior Plains p.24). In the central areas live the Western Woods Cree, Lake Winnipeg Saulteaux, and Beaver (The Interior Plains p.24). The Mackenzie Detlta Inuit and Dene live in the north (The Interior Plains p.24).
Every thing changed when the Europeans came to Canada (The Interior Plains p.26). Aboriginal peoples would trade with the Europeans in exchange for supplies (The Interior Plains p.26). Eventually, this led aboriginal peoples to merge with European society (The Interior Plains p.26). All this became the building blocks for modern day Interior Plains.
